Southern Maryland Rescue Ministries, Inc. ( SMRM ) is a 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt nonprofit organization involved in providing Rescue Mission Ministry to the Least, the Last and the Lost in our community. Through our programs and services we are serving God and people in need in the Southern Maryland region, especially Calvert, Charles, and Saint Mary's Counties.
Our programs and services meet the physical, spiritual, mental, educational, and vocational needs of people, especially the homeless, the hungry, the addicted and the disenfranchised, and help transform their lives.
History of Rescue Missions
Rescue Missions have a long history of providing lifelines for those drowning in the waves of adversity and the undertow of homelessness, and hunger. For more than a century, they have been keeping watch on the waterfront of despair, and countless men, women and children have been saved in every sense of the word.
For nearly a century, this group has been tracking the tragic conditions of the desperate and disenfranchised in North America. The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) has been on the sidewalks and in the face of what to many has been a faceless problem.
The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) is North America's oldest, and largest network of independent crisis shelters, and centers, offering radical hospitality in the name of Jesus. Southern Maryland Rescue Ministries, Inc., joins hundreds of other missions dedicated to serving the Least, the Last, and the Lost.
